Sex Appeal

Sex appeal is defined as personal appeal or physical attractiveness to others.

For many women, “appeal” is not a term associated with sex. Studies show that 63% of women experience some sort of sexual dysfunction in their lifetime with low sexual desire being the most common. Many women have never experienced an orgasm, so sex for them is nothing more than an obligation required for establishing or maintaining a relationship. This is unfortunate because a healthy sexual relationship fosters feelings of intimacy and bonding between partners and strengthens the relationship.

It’s surprising that more medical attention isn’t devoted to the promotion of healthy sexual relationships because safe sex improves immunity, lowers blood pressure, releases pain-reducing hormones, triggers the release of natural “feel-good” hormones, improves sleep, and is associated with improved stress response.

The medical industry has largely focused on sexual-enhancement for men with the use of drugs like Viagra. Now there is help for restoring “appeal” for women and the best part – it doesn’t involve drugs with unwanted side effects.

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections rejuvenate and revitalize the underlying skin structures in the vaginal tissues so women can attain stronger arousal, increased natural lubrication, and increased sex drive. A bonus of PRP vaginal rejuvenation is that it decreases urinary incontinence. At the Women’s Health and Healing Center (WHHC), we also utilize localized hormone therapy and herbal therapy to improve tissue regeneration and libido. Women have been raving about the procedure because they are experiencing an orgasm for the first time in their lives, which increases their desire for sex. As a result, their relationships improve because they are actively engaging in intimacy and bonding, rather than feeling used and objectified in their relationship.

At the WHHC, we also provide counseling for healthful diet and lifestyle to help improve libido. Stress causes libido to take a nosedive because it lowers testosterone (yes, women have testosterone). We also help women to reduce or eliminate the use of pharmaceutical drugs that interfere with desire and sexual response and include antidepressants, antifungals, antihistamines, blood pressure drugs, heartburn drugs, muscle relaxers, narcotic pain relievers, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Physical appearance is only a part of sexual attraction. However, it makes a big difference in how we feel about ourselves and self-image determines the messages conveyed to others. This is important because confidence is noted as the most important attribute of sex appeal. We can boost confidence by caring for ourselves with a healthy diet and lifestyle and making the most of our personal attributes.

Women have a plethora of choices for sprucing up appearance. Next time we’ll discuss how you can make smart choices in foods, cosmetics and personal care products to avoid poisoning your body with harmful ingredients. Until then, remember that we all worked on our sex appeal when we were courting, dating or “hooking up” (depending on your generation). Being in an established relationship doesn’t mean that it has to end.
